Cheap Eats: Tasty Recipes for Tight Wallets

Hi everyone, food lovers! The Indo Foodie is a place where we combine the art of cooking with the concept of spending less on food to make delicious food. I will be thrilled to show you some of the best cheap-but-tasty recipes that I have gathered and I will also tell you the reasons why I am excited to share them with you.

We all know that eating out is a huge source of expense, but cooking at home can be interesting and cheap too. In the end, the best thing is that with a little creativity and some smart shopping, you can cook good homemade meals at a fraction of the cost. Hence, it may be a student from a poor background, a struggling artist, or even a person who loves a good bargain, you are the right person at the right place.

For the first part, breakfast is the main topic we will talk about. Who doesn't like a big, fulfilling, and tasty breakfast to begin the day? Yet, mornings can be a rush, and who has the opportunity or time to make a big breakfast every single day? That's where our favorite budget-friendly breakfast recipe comes in: Overnight oats are the best prepared meal for the whole day since it can be prepared in a hurry and it is possible to do the homework or other activities while waiting for it to be ready. All you need are the rolled oats, milk (or a non-dairy substitute of your choice), and toppings, those are what you have with you. Thus, all the ingredients go into a jar, cool it in the fridge overnight and the next day, you will find a yummy and healthy breakfast that is ready to eat when you are.

In this way, we are going to lunch now. Bringing your lunch at home is healthier than buying from a car, and it is also cheaper. One of my tips is to put in all the vegetables that you find in your fridge (such as bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and snap peas) with garlic and ginger, and add a bit of soy sauce and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. After you have prepared it, you can serve it on some cooked rice or noodles and you will have a very tasty and filling meal that will be much cheaper than buying a takeaway.

Else, dinner is also a very good activity. When you are on a tight budget, pasta always sits on top of your list of best choices. Besides, it is very low-cost and at the same time, it is also very adaptable. I love that leisure time budget-friendly pasta recipe is the spaghetti aglio e olio. All you need to do is get spaghetti, garlic, olive oil, red pepper flakes, and a little bit of Parmesan cheese. It is quite simple, when you are doing it you can't do anything better and it provides you with satisfaction. To mention, you can always modify it according to the vegetables and protein you have at the moment.

To sum up, here is what I am trying to say, again. Tightening our budget does not mean that we will lose the appeal or the satisfaction. With some imagination and smart shopping strategies, you can still have homemade tasty meals without breaking the bank. Hence, the apron is on, the stove is on, and we are prepared to go!

Happy eating!
